Program Description

COURSE INFORMATION:

Students take the following two courses:

COMM 315: Communication Ethics in a Multicultural Context - 3 credits
COMM 336: The Language of Food - 3 credits

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

Participants will spend a month living and studying in Prague and Krakow, two of Central Europe’s most charming, beautiful, and historically significant cities. The theme for the study abroad program is “Communication Across Cultures.” This theme will be explored in two classes. COMM 315 focuses upon communication ethics in a multicultural context, with a special emphasis upon the Holocaust. COMM 336 investigates the dynamic relationship of culture, language, and food. As part of the program, students tour the Auschwitz/Birkenau Memorial and State Museum, the Dineyesque town of Český Krumlov, the ancient Wieliczka salt mine, and the fabled Prague and Wawel castles, as well as other sites of interest.

Students participating in this program should be able to participate in several walking tours.
