Estimated Costs: In addition to the program fee, students will be charged for tuition and fees as follows:
* 2016-17 in-state tuition rate for six credits is $2,844 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees)
* 2016-17 out-of-state tuition rate for six credits is $3,696 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees). The out of state tuition for classes associated with travel are discounted from the Fall and Spring rates.
Program Description

PROGRAM DATES:

Students are expected to book their own flights to Dublin, Ireland and arrive on June 3, 2017. The program officially ends June 30, 2017, and students may choose to depart for the U.S. on that date, or stay to travel on their own.


COURSE INFORMATION:

Students enroll in two of the following courses:
IIAS 304/ENGL 360: Dear Dirty Dublin - Joyce and Doyle (3 credits)
IIAS 304/ENGL 390: Studies in Irish Cinema (3 credits)
HIST 241: History of Modern Ireland (3 credits)


PROGRAM INFORMATION:

This program is an initiative of the Irish and Irish American Studies program at the College of Charleston. Students are able to take courses that will not only count towards a minor in Irish and Irish American Studies, but also take courses counting towards a major/minor in English or History, or a minor in Film Studies.

The program will be based at Dublin City University (DCU) in Dublin, Ireland. Students will live in DCU dorms and attend classes in a DCU classroom. There will be several day trips in and around Dublin, most using public transportation, as well as a full-day excursion to Glendalough, an early Medieval monastery south of Dublin. The program will also include a 8-day excursion to the west of Ireland and to Northern Ireland.

Students will have the opportunity to partake in optional urban and rural hiking.

Non-CofC students are encouraged to apply.

Dr. Kelly is Professor of English and Director of the Irish and Irish American Studies program at College of Charleston. He has directed a study abroad program to Ireland several times in the past.

Dr. Delay is Associate Professor of History at College of Charleston. She is an internationally respected scholar of Irish history.

Dr. Glenn is Assistant Professor of English at College of Charleston. Her specialty is in Film Studies.
