Program Description

A picturesque inlet of the Gulf of the Poets along the Ligurian Riviera. This small town is called the Perla del Golfo (the pearl of the gulf), because of its breath taking beauty. The area around the Gulf of the Poets attracted many writers in the early 19th century and the English poets Lord Byron and Shelley spent some of their life here. Students can take one of the hiking trails through the Park Monte Marcello to the small nearby fishing villages of Fiascherino and Tellaro which certainly deserve a visit. During the summer months ferries depart from Lerici daily for the Cinque Terre, Portovnere, Levanto, Portofino and Genova.
