Program Description

COURSE INFORMATION:

Students enroll in two of the following courses:
EXSC 444: Scientific Writing and Data Analysis - 3 credits
HEAL 216: Personal and Community Health -OR- EDEE 370: Teaching Health & Physical Education - 3 credits
EXSC 320: Teaching Methods for New Zealand Sports - 3 credits

Students must meet with their academic advisor to confirm how the courses will count towards their degree.

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

The study abroad program to New Zealand will be the first study abroad aimed at students in Health and Human Performance. This study abroad program will take advantage of program director contacts in New Zealand and also the unique sport culture and health care differences from the US. The group will arrive in Auckland and spend the first 15 days at The University of Auckland. The weekends will allow for day trips to Bay of Islands, Rangitoto Island and other north island locations. The last 15 days will be spent with the hosts at Victoria University of Wellington. This location will allow for easy access to the south island of New Zealand which will include fitness hikes in the foothills and visits to “Lord of the Rings” locations.

Dr. Flynn has taught EXSC Scientific Writing in both regular and online formats. He traveled to Auckland, New Zealand during his sabbatical in 1995.
