Estimated Costs: In addition to the program fee, students will be charged for tuition and fees as follows:
* 2015-16 in-state tuition rate for four credits is $1,832 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees)
* 2015-16 out-of-state tuition rate for four credits is $2380.00 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees). The out of state tuition for classes associated with travel are discounted from the Fall and Spring rates.

Program Description

PROGRAM DATES:
Program will be approximately 24 days in May-June 2016; precise departure and return date TBD

COURSE INFORMATION:

Students enroll in two of the following courses:
EXSC 444: Scientific Writing and Data Analysis - 3 credits
EXSC 320: Teaching Methods for New Zealand Sports - 3 credits
HEAL 216: Personal and Community Health - 3 credits

Students must meet with their academic advisor to confirm how the courses will count towards their degree.


PROGRAM INFORMATION:

This study abroad program will take advantage of program director contacts in New Zealand and also the unique sport culture and health care differences from the US. The group will arrive in Auckland and spend the first half of the program at The University of Auckland. The weekends will allow for day trips to Bay of Islands, Rangitoto Island and other north island locations. The last half will be spent with the hosts at Victoria University of Wellington. This location will allow for easy access to the south island of New Zealand which will include fitness hikes in the foothills and visits to “Lord of the Rings” locations.

Dr. Flynn has taught EXSC Scientific Writing in both regular and online formats. He traveled to Auckland, New Zealand during his sabbatical in 1995.

Dr. Hemphill has taught EXSC 320 during the regular semester. He traveled to New Zealand for a conference in February 2014.

Ms. Susan Flynn
Department of Teacher Education

Ms. Flynn has taught HEAL 216 during the regular semester. She has traveled previously to Australia and has professional contacts in New Zealand.

All three faculty led the program in the summer of 2015.
