COURSE INFORMATION:

Students enroll in the following course:

HTMT 380: Managing Global Tourism (Wine Tourism) - 3 credits

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

The general HTMT 380 course description reads: “This course examines tourism issues from a global perspective. Topics covered during this course include: international business practices (marketing, law and finance), managing diverse populations and sustainable development. The course will present opportunities to analyze and discuss multiple perspectives related to understanding and managing tourism businesses in a globalized environment.”

In this HTMT 380 study abroad, the students will be focusing on these course objectives through the lens of “wine tourism.” Students will traverse wine regions (wineries, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and partner universities) of Spain and France, beginning in Madrid and ending Paris. CofC students will be working in teams with English-speaking German students, from Worms University of Applied Sciences (WUAS). Each team will have project related to wine tourism (e.g. marketing, facilities management, tour management, and intercultural relations).

Students should be aware that there will be walking tours and other outdoor vineyard activities that might require students to walk through steeply inclined growing areas.
