Estimated Costs: In addition to the program fee, students will be charged tuition for their courses.

The out of state tuition for classes associated with travel are discounted from the Fall and Spring rates.

Scholarships up to $1,500 are available to support CofC degree seeking students. Eligibility is based on demonstrated financial need, academic merit, 2 faculty recommendations and a personal statement. Program Description

COURSE INFORMATION:

Students enroll in two of the following classes:
-ARTS 220: Sculpture I (3 credits),
-ARTS 119, 319, 326, 339: Drawing I-IV (3 credits)
-ARTS 335: Special Topics in Advanced Studio Practice: Watercolors (3 credits)

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

This program will offer students the opportunity to take studio art classes while exploring the cities and countryside of Sweden. Much of the program will be based in a lake-house in Froskog, Sweden where students will engage with the local art community and work on indoor and outdoor art projects. Planned outdoor activities such as canoeing and hiking will inspire the students and help integrate their classroom experience with the outdoors. Short trips will be made to Stockholm and Gothenburg where students will visit museums and contemporary art galleries. The Moderna Museet in Stockholm will expose students to one of Europe's finest contemporary and modern art collections. Additionally, behind the scenes access has been arranged at the Gothenburg Museum of Natural History where students will have classroom space and access to museum specimens.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

-Students must have an overall GPA of 2.5
-Students must already possess a valid passport, or be able to obtain a valid passport

Steve Johnson is an Associate Professor of Art and head of the Drawing Area at the College of Charleston. He spent the 2015-16 academic year living and teaching in India as a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar.

Chris Porcarelli

Chris Porcarelli received his M.F.A from HDK Steneby, University of Gothenburg with a focus on metal sculpture and public space. He has been based in Sweden since 2010 where he has established his art, design, and teaching practice.
