Estimated Costs: In addition to the program fee, students will be charged for tuition and fees as follows:
* 2015-16 in-state tuition rate for four credits is $1,832 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees)
* 2015-16 out-of-state tuition rate for four credits is $2380.00 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees). The out of state tuition for classes associated with travel are discounted from the Fall and Spring rates.

Students should also estimate the following out-of-pocket expenses (depending on their spending habits):
- Round-trip airfare: Students will be encouraged to use Turkish Air to create a multi-flight trip. Fly to Istanbul on to Barcelona. This will keep flight costs down due to their hub layover policy. Price quote in August 2015 for May 2016: $930 from Washington, D.C.
- Meals: $30/day
- Personal expenses: $300
Program Description

ELIGIBILITY AND COURSE INFORMATION:

This program is only for Communication majors who are selected to take COMM 481: Communication Capstone in Spring 2016. Please review the course description in the 2015-2016 Academic Catalog for more information on prerequisites.


PROGRAM INFORMATION:

This will be and incredible, fast, action-packed experience ideal for communication majors looking to complete their undergraduate education immersed in a variety of cultures. Highlights include: Palau Guell, Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, Jemaa el Fna, Medina, and retreat to the Atlas Mountains to hike, zipline, visit a local village, learn how to make olive oil, and prepare a final meal together (students may opt out of the activities in the Atlas Mountains without penalty). As an interpersonal and intercultural class we will engage with and learn from the local community as much as possible. Students are graded on their participation as well as final presentations and paper. Note: because your flight is not included in the price, you are welcome to travel after the conclusion of the program.

Dr. Ferrara has traveled to 35 countries spanning 5 continents. In 2013, she sailed - and taught - around the world, experiencing 13 countries through the Semester at Sea program. In 2015 she was co-director for the College of Charleston Communication program in Prague, Czech Republic. She teaches courses in Interpersonal Communication and Health Communication. She has taught the communication capstone 5 times on campus and is excited to teach COMM 481 abroad.
