Program Description

**Program is full; not accepting any new applications for Summer 2017**

Students take two courses from the following selection:

COMM 315: Ethical Communication - Conflict and Community (3 credits)
COMM 336: Addressing Problems in Context - Representation, Identity, and Culture (3 credits)
*COMM 481: Capstone in Communication - Experiencing and Investigating Communication and Culture Abroad - Destination Europe (3 credits)

*Students must take COMM 480 prior to COMM 481

Participants in this month-long program will study in Florence, Italy; Prague, Czech Republic; and Salzburg, Austria. Three classes are offered (students are required to take two). COMM 315 focuses upon communication ethics in relation to conflict and community. COMM 336 explores the relationship between communication and culture. COMM 481 is offered as a continuation of the capstone course for students who complete COMM $80 in Spring 2017. The capstone immerses students in three distinct European cultural traditions: Slavic, Bavarian, and Tuscan. As part of the program, students will tour the Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Prague's Jewish Quarter, and Florence's famous art galleries, as well as castles, museums, and other sites of cultural, historical, and recreational interest.

Students participating in this program should expect excessive walking at times, with steps indoors and hills outside. Not all sites are handicapped accessible.
