Estimated Costs: In addition to the program fee, students will be charged for tuition and fees as follows:
* 2016-17 in-state tuition rate for three credits is $1,422 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees)
* 2016-17 out-of-state tuition rate for three credits is $1,848 (plus Library, Technology and Part Time Fees). The out of state tuition for classes associated with travel are discounted from the Fall and Spring rates.

Estimated out-of-pocket expenses are as follows:
- Round-trip airfare- $800
- Meals- $400 ($50/day)
Program Description

PROGRAM DATES:

This program will take place over the course of one week either in Maymester or Summer I 2017. Exact dates to be announced at a later date.


COURSE INFORMATION:

Students choose one course from the following:
REAL 360: The Panama Canal - Its Impact on Global Trade - 3 credits

TRAN 360: The Panama Canal - Its Impact on Global Trade - 3 credits


PROGRAM INFORMATION:

With the Panama Canal Expansion project now completed, global trade will be profoundly impacted in the areas of global logistics, distribution and transportation as well as the real estate development and infrastructure. The study tour will include lectures by global experts as well as on-site visits. The week-long stay in Panama will include visits to the existing Canal and the construction site for the expansion, international companies that have located in Panama, and new real estate developments that are a direct result of the increased trade due to the canal expansion.

Dr. Kent Gourdin is a Professor and Director of the Global Logistics and Transportation Program in the School of Business. He is a career logistics/transportation person who has traveled extensively abroad and annually takes a student group to the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Dr. Gourdin also led this study abroad program in 2014 and 2016.
