Program Description

With 180,000 inhabitants, Linz is the 3rd largest city in Austria. Embedded in the Danube Valley and surrounded by green rolling hills, the city has a unique flair. Picturesque buildings of the old town include the Linz castle, which towers above the city and the oldest church in Austria, which dates back 1,200 years. The pastel tomes of the Baroque and Rococo facades of the citizens' houses on the Main Square and the carefully renovated "old town" provide striking contracts to the city's modern industrial and commercial centers. Johannes Kepler University has a perfect location in the northeast of the city. As the largest research and teaching institution in Upper Austria, the university contributes to the maintenance and the development of the region. All facilities of JKU, including the athletic grounds and three student residences, are situated on the campus.
