PROGRAM INFORMATION

The College of Charleston fall study abroad program in La ROchelle, Frnace is designed for students who major or minor in French, or who are intersted in earning 12-15 credit hours in upper level French, or for students from any academic discipline (who have completed French 202) who are interested in developing fluency in French and maintaining normal progress towards graduation.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

There are many opportunities for students while studying for the fall semester in La Rochelle, France. One of the program highlights is that students will live with local French families. The families are selected by a company that specializes in placing college students with local French families, and placement is based on a completed questionnaire. Living with families provides students a great opportunity to learn about daily life and culture in France while improving thei French language skills.

Students take classes at the University of La Rochelle in the CUFLE (Centre Universitaire de Francais LAngue Etrangere), or intenational center, with other international students. All classes are taught by French faculty. Students, however, will earn actual College of Charleston credit for the courses at the CUFLE.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Students must have completed French 202 prior to participating i the study abroad program to La Rochelle. Students must have an overall GPA of 2.5.

Students must have a valid passport, or be able to obtain a valid passport in orde to participate in the program.
