Program Description

The Free University of Bolzano aims to offer students a multilingual, practice-oriented education that meets the demands of the local and the European labor market. Lectures and seminars are held in German, Italian and English.

Bolzano-Bozen is the capital city of South Tyrol, the German speaking region in the northern part of Italy. Bolza-no/Bozen is the largest city in the region and its archeology cal museum is famous worldwide, because it is the home of the Iceman "Ötzi". It is also known as the Italian Capital of Christmas thanks to the characteristic Christmas market. Bolzano's population is around 100,000 (140,000 including the metropolitan area). 25% of inhabitants.Speak German as mother language, which is much higher in the non-urban parts of the province making the city officially bi-lingual. Together with Innsbruck, Bolzano/Bozen is officially the capital of the Alps because there is the operative seat of the Alpine Convention located there. Also the worldwide famous Museum of Archaeology with the Iceman and the Messner Mountain Museum's main seat make of Bolzano a world city of mountaineering.

Eligibility: Students must have a 2.75 GPA.

Cost: Students pay normal CofC tuition and fees to the College. Students are responsible for their own travel and living expenses while in Bolzano.

Housing: On-campus dormitory housing.

Subjects Offered: Computer Science courses are offered in English. Some Italian language courses are available upon request.

Credit: The courses taken at Bolzano must be pre-approved by the appropriate academic department for potential transfer credit.
