Program Description

The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid is a public university with three campuses located within the greater Madrid metropolitan area. A relatively new public university, UC3M has achieved a reputation for academic and research excellence as well as one of innovation and internationalization which attracts top researchers, faculty and students from Spain and around the world. It programs in Business Administration, Economics and Law are ranked among the best in Spain. While studying at UC3M, students are able to partake of the vibrant culture of Madrid, Spain’s capital and largest city. One of the most dynamic cities in Europe, Madrid has a rich historic, artistic and cultural heritage; it is home to some of the best art museums in the world including the Prado. A thriving metropolis, Madrid is an ideal location for study while experiencing Spanish life and culture.

Eligibility: Students must have a 3.2 GPA.

Program Dates: Students may attend the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) for the fall semester (early September to December) or spring semester (mid January to late May).

Cost: Students pay College of Charleston tuition and fees to study at UC3M. Students are responsible for their housing, meals, airfare and incidentals. Most CofC financial aid will apply.

Housing: Students can apply for university housing with UC3M. Students also have the option of arranging off-campus housing through private housing agencies in Madrid.

Subjects Offered: Undergraduate courses in Business, Media Studies, Journalism, and Computer Science are offered in English. Spanish language courses are available through the University Language Center for a nominal fee.

Credit: The courses taken at UC3M must be pre-approved by the appropriate academic department for potential transfer credit.
